Update 2450 – Gathering

Meanwhile, the new reactor core was in position and synchronizing with the base systems. It would take about an hour before it was fully operational. But the Syprius android would arrive here in 20 minutes.


Even before the Syprius android arrived in the core room, White and an assistant Robot arrived there, equipped with the most advanced EM weapons, they wanted to stop the intruder.



Black: "Hand over the other weapon to the robot too."
White: "It's my job, I have the responsibility, a commander has to do what a commander has to do!"
Black: "Even if it's pointless!"
White "Even then!"
Black "That's not very logical! – This base can be replaced, but not your life."
White hesitated "Take cover, the intruder is sure to come through!"



Black stepped with the others to the other side
Blue replied "Why don't we just blow up the new Ken and evacuate."
Red "Where would we go then, this is our home, all our things are here!"
Yellow: "I don't feel like giving up all this and starting over!"
Green: "No one knows if we'll be redeployed to the same place!"
Pink: "I'm scared!"
Black: "We all are, keep the Rue!"

So they waited, just waiting for the Spyrius android to break into the core room.

After sending the message, the Spyrius android wanted to move towards the main engine room, but White's sent assistant robots blocked his way.










But before they could open fire, he incapacitated them with a high-energy pulse; nothing seemed to be able to stop the intruder. He continued on his way to the main engine room.

Update 2350 – Transmission

The Syrius robot overcame security gates without any problems. When it accessed a data node, it configured its arm and accessed the communication system. Despite the lack of main power, it transmitted a signal to the ships in orbit.
From LL-11, the signal was attached to a computer subroutine that manipulated the on-board computer further in the direction of a distant location.
In his office, White got ready and used a robot to give new instructions to all the assistant robots on the base.
All the robots in their charging stations were activated simultaneously.
He activated the new defence subroutine that equipped the assistants with stun electro-shockers instead of their grippers. Hopefully the robots would stop the intruder.

The small space baby project is doing better than ever with between 20-30 supporters a day, so thank you very much for your incredible support. I am very grateful for every vote.

Update 2300 – The Core

In orbit above the command base, two tugs under the protection of LL-11, LT-69 and LL-99 tow the old core out of orbit while two working pods align the new core to slowly lower it through the atmosphere.

Three hours have already passed, so far they are well on schedule and there have been no unscheduled delays.

According to current information, there are no ships approaching the sector.

Nevertheless, the report of the Blacktron drone destroyed in the Delta-Vega system worries the entire crew: what if an enemy ship were to appear here? Each core has enormous destructive potential when it collapses; it could easily destroy the planet and the base.

While the crew of the command base, without knowing the exact situation, holds out on emergency power until the new core is in position, everything is done in orbit to finish as quickly as possible.

The AL-14 escort ship (beta) reports: "The drone is about to pass the 5,000 km perimeter to the starbase."
The AL-14 escort ship (alpha) replied: "Course and speed are unchanged, we are registering an energy signature building up in the drone!"
Beta: "Maybe a protective shield!"
Alpha: "Or an explosive device!"
Beta "I have doubts!"

A few hours later, an LT-4 Kaskada cargo ship arrived at the wreckage of the drone. Most of the hardware seemed to have self-destructed when it was rendered useless by the bombardment; not even the flight data recorder was still usable. Only the configuration of the wreckage left no doubt that it was a reconnaissance probe and not a weapon. One shouldn't forget that the claims of the Blacktron Alliance to this sector had existed for much longer and that they had threatened to take it back if they didn't remove their starbase from here. The debris would be taken to a secure area on Mars for analysis; maybe they could still coax one or two secrets out of the scrap. The Blacktron technology was superior to that of the Space Command in many ways. Any information was helpful.

As the Blacktron drone approached the starbase at 10,000 km, the two AL-14s went into intercept course, with the lead ship opening a channel
Alpha: "Drone ship, turn around or we will open fire!"
The escort ship confirmed the telemetry
Beta: "9,000 km"
The lead ship (Alpha) ordered to prepare for battle "Power up weapons!"
The escort ship (Beta) reported, "Our sensors are receiving an outgoing signal, the threat is sending its telemetry, it is penetrating the shields of our starbase with its high-resolution sensors!"
Beta "8,000 km"
Alpha "We are holding position between the intruder and the starbase, at 5,000 km we will open fire!"
Beta "6,000 km"
Alpha "Prepare to fire!"
The drone continued to approach the starbase without paying attention to the two AL-14s ready for battle.

Update 2100 - The Arrival

The supply convoy of three LT-13 freighters and one AL-12 has arrived in the ‘Delta Vega’ system at Starbase LL-96.
Two AL-14 ‘Falconers’ patrol around the starbase as additional protection against possible threats.
In the assigned vector, the approach for loading and unloading the three ‘Dyson’ Heavy Cargo Ships takes place.
After a few hours the process is completed and the automated unmanned convoy consisting of an AL-12 ‘Barricade’ Command Ship and three LT-12 ‘Dyson’ Heavy Cargo Ships sets off again for the Command Base with the required supplies.

Update 2100 - The Core (Part 1) - Space Base of Terror

White sat in his office and checked all the logs from the flight data recorder of vehicle 10-47. They didn't match the flight data, even the amount of fuel. This led them to suspect that the ship had been used without authorization. An analysis provided the radius of movement that the supply ship could have traveled. White had a suspicion and even though it annoyed him greatly, he would let it go unchallenged for the time being; after all, the others still had to get used to the fact that he was in command.
He opened a channel: "Preparations for shutting down the main power will begin in two hours when our new power core arrives. Everyone is to remain at their stations. All non-essential personnel are to remain in their quarters. The power core replacement will take six hours. Please check your portable light sources and get an emergency ration and blanket in advance. These will be distributed in the dining room. There is no reason to be afraid. The temperature on the base will drop a little, the air will be a little stuffier, but we are not in danger. An LT-69, my LL-99 and an LL-11 will be stationed above our facility for protection while we shut everything down. If anyone gets uncomfortable, they can seek out the hospital area, but be aware of never being alone on the base. I have complete confidence."


In the command center, yellow and green set up the last system diversions to transfer control to the core area.

Yellow "It's really eerie when everything is so empty and dark!"
Green "Yes, let's quickly check the system here before we go to the reactor room"
Yellow: "I'll quickly shut down the last redundant systems!"
Green: "Why are you taking the energy from the labs, that cancels the barrier fields!"
Yellow: "There's nothing there, we don't have any extraterrestrial samples right now, so there's no danger!"
Green: "That's not quite true!"
Yellow: "What were you doing down there!"
Green: "Nothing bad, but at least turn on the blocking spring in the quarantine lab."
Yellow: "Fine – I'll take power from our sleeping quarters for that, but you explain to the others that we're waiting in the reactor room until the new core is ready!"
Green: "All right, I was going to tell you anyway!"
Blue and Pink were working on the hiss deck above the control center. They were preparing to disconnect the energy core that was currently being installed.

Blue: "So the clamps are released now, we can switch off the core and it can simply be lifted out upwards by the tug."
Pink: "Have you ever done anything like this before?"
Blue "Only in theory, as far as I know, we are the first base to replace its main reactor core. The new cores deliver twice as much energy and should last for 50 years."
Pink "I would have preferred to have completely evacuated the base during the procedure – without electricity, nothing works properly and the emergency power supply is not enough to supply all areas!"
Blue "Don't worry so much, it's been simulated multiple times and planned for a year."
Pink "I know, I'll still be glad when it's over!"

In the secondary reactor room, Black and Red were making the final changes to the emergency power reactor. It was a standard procedure, they had simulated something like this many times before.

Black: "We'll wait until the others get back and then we'll seal the room. We should secure our helmets and check the oxygen tanks in case the circulation doesn't provide enough air to breathe."
Red: "I'll take care of that, whatever knows is doing!"
Black: "I think he's in his office monitoring the process, all controls have been diverted there – he'll manage."
Red: "I would prefer him to be on his ship or where I can see him, I'm not thawing him!"
Black: "Why this dislike, has he done something to you?"
Red: "He has taken something away from all of us."
Black: "I don't share your opinion but I accept it, let's finish this, we should concentrate on not going wrong – 6 hours in darkness is enough for me."

After everything was prepared, Yellow, Green, Blue, Pink, Black and Red met in the primary reactor room. Here, where the heart of the base was, they would hold out until it was all over. Nor out of White's office and from here they still had access to all the controls.

Black "Here in the reactor room, we're ready!"
White via com: "Very good – I'm giving the command to the tugboat to lift the core, unlock the anchoring!"
Black: "You heard the commander, hold on tight, it might jerk a bit!"
Blue: "I hope I don't get sick!"
Green: "It's starting!"


Yellow: "That was it?"
Black: "Now we have to wait until the new core is lowered."
Red: "What should we do? Does anyone have any ideas?"
Yellow: "Weren't you going to tell us something?" he said to Green.
Black: "First we secure the systems – then shut down the consoles to save power."

Update 2050 - The Core (Part 2) - Space Base of Terror

[Continued]

After everyone had done what they had to do, they gathered back downstairs around one of the portable light sources


Black: "About six hours from now."
Red: "What did you want to tell us?"
Everyone looked at Green, who hesitated.
Green: "I recovered debris with still-functioning hardware and sealed it in the quarantine lab!"


Blue: "The power springs are now deactivated!"
Yellow: "They're activated. Green told me in time!"
Red "When white finds out, he'll put you in detention!"
Black "It was dangerous and certainly not smart, but everyone has done stupid things before – what have you found out!"
Green "Actually, nothing yet, I'm still analyzing it – but it's very impressive technology"
Pink "You did something stupid, I don't believe that!"
Black "You really want to hear this?"

Black "I was on one of my last training missions with an LL-11 when we received a distress signal. We were instructed to ignore it, a ship would investigate it, but the next ship would take 48 hours at maximum speed, so I landed without authorization and encountered an industrial society of crab-like creatures. their main power supply had broken down and life on their planet was only possible because a protective shield protected them from meteorites – so without further ado, we dismantled the LL-11 and left them both energy cells, the consequence was that I had to start my entire flight training from scratch, but in return I was also given command of this base."
Black: "And what did you experience that no one should know about?"
Pink: "Me, oh I think I'd rather keep that to myself!"
Blue: "Black told us his story, just like Green. Now it's your turn. We'll all tell something embarrassing!"
Pink: "All right, but I want you to respect me afterwards too! I'm the same person I was before, don't forget that!"


Pink "As you know, I was attending the Space Academy at the same time as you, but I went on a flight in a training pod, an anomaly disrupted my system and I ended up in a distortion. After that, I remember, but I only remember my former self in fragments, I crashed and was seriously injured, I couldn't move. My former other self, a sentient life form native to this planet, took care of me as best she could. When it seemed as though no help would come on the twelfth day, the only way to ensure my survival was to merge with me to heal my injuries, so two beings became one and that is now me – but trust me, I am still me, we are me but we are one."


Red: "That's not true, is it?"
Blue: "Well told!"
Black stepped up to her: "I know the report: they didn't find you until eight months later, they were surprised at how you had acclimatized, it was a miracle!"
Pink was silent.
An alarm sounded: "Quarantine breach in the laboratory, warning – quarantine breach!"

White reported by radio: "I detect an alien signature on our base. An alien life form is on board. I'm sending our assistant robots to seal off their area and wait for the all-clear."
