This is my model of the Unseen University Library from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the first Discworld novel, "A Colour of Magic" published in the early 1980's.
The build includes the assistant librarian, wiz(z)ard Rincewind, who is browsing the shelves of books not aware that a tentacle has wriggled it's way from a portal from the dungeon dimension and is reaching towards him, the Luggage (Update! Luggage has been updated to give him some more personality), a bust of Terry Pratchett and of course, the famous and fan favourite Unseen University Librarian who was turned into an orangutan after a mishap with a magic spell in the second Discworld book "A Light Fantastic".
This diorama would make a great display piece and even the perfect bookend for a fans Discworld collection!
I had originally designed this build for a fan and shared it online with the Brick-Morpork community who encouraged me to submit the design to LEGO Ideas. There is a huge crossover of LEGO and Discworld fans, many of which have joined the Brick-Morpork community across my social media accounts and they are always wishing for a set to be created based on the Discworld theme. This has been a very popular build and one that fans have said they would love as a set.
** UPDATE **
This is a major update of the build to being the part count below the 3000 limit. I have also taken into consideration suggestions from the community, including a change to the shelves and base as well as making a few other changes including: sticker elements added to include the full Discworld series to the book case, the removal of the .303 bookworm but the addition of the Amazing Maurice and some Nac Mac Feegle. Finally, I have added a Sir Terry Pratchett Minifigure!
