Why Mexico City?

I think LEGO and MEXICO share one thing: you are going to fall in love with them at first sight!

Recently, as an adult, I have rediscovered Lego and I became again a huge fan of Lego like when I was a kid. In this time I also had the chance to visit Mexico City (I am from Costa Rica) and I was I absolutely charmed with the experience of exploring this unique city, full of beautiful designs, great surprises, and happy moments!

…And then when I went to the Lego stores there I realized they still did not have their own Lego set of their city :(

So I thought that Mexico City is just perfect for Lego!

  1. They are millions of Lego fans in Mexico.
  2. There is even a Lego factory too.
  3. And most important - with the help of Lego, a little part of Mexico and this magical city could travel beyond their boundaries and be closer to everyone around the globe.

I really want that children and adults could play, learn, and fall in love too, with both Mexico and Lego like I did!

Why these buildings?

Each building I chose not only represents the most iconic structures at Mexico City but also different periods of time, culture and historic moments. They involve from the pre Conquest Period to modern times:

  • Constitution Plaza or “Zócalo” (since the time of the Aztecs). The People and Tradition. The heart and symbol of Mexico and its people. It´s Main Square is where countless persons join to celebrate events or festivities around Mexico flag.
  • National Palace (1522-1526). Union, Leadership. Headquarters of the federal executive in Mexico. It represents importance of the meeting of cultures, the blending of Spanish and Aztec.
  • Angel of Independence (1900-1910). Independence and love for their country. An iconic monument that represents the heroic struggle of Mexican people to decide and make their own path in the world.
  • Latin-American Tower (1948 – 1956). Leadership, hard work, and innovation. The once tallest building in Iberoamerica, it points out the achievements of Mexico hard work and role in the world.Palacio de Bellas Artes or “Fine Arts Palace” (1904-1934). The best expression of culture and arts in Mexico. It is a symbol of the incredibly rich Mexican culture and its arts contribution.

If you like the set, remember that you can help to make it real - every vote counts :D

I hope that you like this “small tribute” to Mexico City and Lego, and if you want to you can help with your vote to make the first Mexican-themed Lego set and have a chance to take part of this beautiful city to your home!

Thank you very much for your support,

Francisco Escobar A.

*About:

-The pictures: I took them in my trip to Mexico and I digitally retouched them for a better visualization of the structures.

- Stickers: The set does not include new pieces but instead I propose stickers for the Dome of Bellas Artes, and the Mexican Flag.
