History
Lunch Atop LEGO City is based off of the 1932 photograph "Lunch Atop a Skyscraper." It shows workers relaxing 850 feet above New York City on a lunch break. They were working on the RCA building when photographed.
This project sought to recreate the iconic photo from another perspective. It shows the exact moment the photo was taken above the city using 1,024 pieces. It includes 8 men (1 being the man who took the photo) sitting on a steel beam. They sit casually as they enjoy the city skyline. The background shows the industrializing city. The project has a plaque with the title "Lunch Atop LEGO City" to describe the original image and the LEGO recreation.
Background
I have always seen this photo when I was younger, and found the fearlessness and bravery it expresses amazing. Having more than a decade of LEGO knowledge, I began creating this project in the hopes of creating an accurate portrayal of the real photograph.
This set would be perfect for any empty shelf or to complement any LEGO city. It is a great piece for aesthetics and is enjoyable to learn about.
