Voyager Mission

The spacecraft Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 are two probes sent to explore the outer solar system and even go further, to the interstellar space. Carl Sagan said that the Voyager is an intelligent being, part robot, part human, which transports the senses, the images, and the sounds of the people of planet Earth, to go where no woman or man has gone before.

Prior to the launch of the Voyager (in August and September 1977), little was known about the outer Solar System. But in the years that followed, between 1979 and 1989, these spaceships reached Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, they sent a flood of very detailed information about these planets, their moons and rings. This is already a formidable achievement, but the Voyager mission did not end there. They reached the limits of the solar system. Voyager 1 passed the helipausa in 25 August 2012, transforming into the first man-made object to reach interstellar space.

The project has two parts: The launch vehicle (a Titan IIIE Centaur rocket, 118 bricks), and the Voyager spacecraft itself (117 bricks).  I have also included a stand for display of the ship Voyager (24 bricks). The project uses 259 bricks in total and was developed using Lego Digital Design (LDD).

In the model of the Voyager spacecraft can be seen numerous details of their communications systems, sensors and power generators:

1 Spectrometer
2 Camera and photopolarimeter
3 Plasma analizer
4 Cosmic ray subsystem
5 Low energy charged particles detector
6 Optical calibration target
7 Golden record
8 High-gain antenna
9 Low-gain antenna
10 Planetary radio astronomy and
 plasma wave antenna
11 Radioisotope thermoelectric generator
12 Magnetometer sensor

The golden record, deserves special mention. It is a 12-inch gold-plate cooper phonograph record, containing some sounds and images of our planet, listen to instructions, a picture of human beings (women and men) and the location of the planet Earth and our solar system. This album is aimed at intelligent species that Voyager can find it way in the future. Therefore, the Voyager is not only a space probe but a time capsule, a message of humankind thrown into deep space, into the future, into the unknown.

I used some photographs of the planets of the outer Solar System taken from the website of NASA , they were taken by the Voyager and Cassini probes.

I had previously submitted a project called Voyager Interstellar Mission, but the new project is totally different, much more detailed and includes also the launch vehicle Titan IIIE Centaur.

I am convinced that this project has a high historical and educational value and I hope you like it and support it.
