4000 Votes!
Thank you so much for voting on 123 Sesame Street!
We've just hit our 4,000-vote milestone. Still a long ways to go, but with your support, we'll get there. :) Each time the design gets a thousand votes, I will share one of the scrapped ideas for minifigures or accessories that did not make it into the submitted design.
Here are the first four discarded ideas:
1. Sam the Robot.
While he may be a fan favorite character, he is also somewhat obscure to newer fans of Sesame Street. Second, it was really not feasible to produce with character without sculpted parts, mainly for the head. The eyes in the figure below are actually floating, and are not connected to the rest of the body. I wanted to follow the rules of LEGO Ideas and not include any additional parts that need sculpting.
2. Abby Cadabby
I really wanted to include Abby, especially so that we could have more female characters in the set. She's a very important part of today's Sesame Street. Unfortunately, there just aren't enough existing LEGO hairpieces to match Abby's unique tresses. As per LEGO Ideas' rules, I can only use previously produced Lego parts for my design.
3. Mr. Snuffleupagus
Snuffy was just too big an accessory to include with this set. He would have taken over the entire sidewalk just to fit him in. For now, let's just think he's an "imaginary friend." Sorry, Big Bird!
4. The Amazing Mumford
A la peanut butter sandwiches! Mumford was another personal favorite. The character's design translated into LEGO form really well too. Unfortunately I had to make some tough choices about which secondary characters to include with the set. Mumford was one of the characters that got the axe to make way for Biff and Sully.
