Discarded Ideas

When I designed LEGO Ideas: 123 Sesame Street, there were several characters and accessories that didn't make it into the submitted set. There just wasn't enough space to fit in 50 years worth of the show into one design. Here are four additional builds I wish could have been included, but didn't make the cut for one reason or another.

Happy 49th Birthday, Sesame Street!

In 1969, Oscar was orange, Gordon had hair, and Sesame Street was already totally awesome. Celebrate your love of 49 years of Sesame Street by voting for this LEGO Ideas project at goo.gl/b9GBA6. If the design gets 10,000 votes, LEGO will consider producing this set as an official product.

This just in! Caroll Spinney, Leaves ‘Sesame Street’ After Nearly 50 Years

After 50 years and over 4,000 episodes, Caroll Spinney – the man behind Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch, is retiring. At his departure, Spinney will be one of the last surviving “Sesame Street” staff members who has been with the show since its very beginning.

We can't thank Carroll enough for his five decades with us on Sesame Street. We wish him a very happy retirement!
