Discarded Ideas: Teeny Little Super Guy

When we designed LEGO Ideas: 123 Sesame Street, there were several characters and accessories that didn't make it into the set we submitted. There just wasn't enough space to fit in 50 years worth of the show into one design. Here is one additional build we wish could have been included, but didn't make the cut for one reason or another.

You can make 123 Sesame Street a real LEGO set by voting for our design on the LEGO Ideas website. We need 2,500 supporters to make this dream set a reality.

DID YOU KNOW...

DID YOU KNOW… In 2002, Takalani Sesame (South Africa's version of Sesame Street) introduced Kami, the first HIV-positive character. Kami emphasizes that it's possible to live with HIV, and those who don't suffer from HIV should be accepting and unafraid of those who do.

DID YOU KNOW… Before making his debut on Sesame Street in 1969, an early version of Cookie Monster appeared in a 1966 test commercial for General Foods. This proto-Cookie Monster made several appearances in commercials done for IBM and Frito-Lay, before he morphed into our favorite cookie-eating monster!

DID YOU KNOW… In the movie Sesame Street: Follow that Bird, Cookie Monster ate through a Volkswagen Beetle. In the past, he has also gobbled up a Chrysler Pacifica remote control and even an entire Ford F-250!

Bert and Ernie minifigure UPDATED

I'm constantly looking for new ways to make improvements to my original designs for LEGO Sesame Street. However, since I am building most everything using LEGO Digital Designer, the software does not have access to new LEGO pieces that have been introduced in recent years.

I recently came across a new LEGO mini-wig used in LEGO Ninjago Movie sets... I think it could be used to really improve my designs for both Bert and Ernie. Check out the redesign below! :)

DID YOU KNOW…

DID YOU KNOW… Sesame Street once did a parody sketch of Harry Potter, featuring Cookie Monster as Furry Potter! In the sketch Professor Crumblemore teaches Potter the wizardly ways of following instructions to aid him in his quest for the Goblet of Cookies!

DID YOU KNOW…

DID YOU KNOW… When actor Will Lee, who played Mr. Hooper, died in 1982, Sesame Street writers had a challenging task on their hands. Instead of recasting the role, the producers of Sesame Street decided to create an episode that taught their young audience about the difficult topic of death.

DID YOU KNOW...

DID YOU KNOW… For many years, only Big Bird could see Snuffy, leading other characters to believe Snuffy was an imaginary friend. The show's writers felt they needed to encourage children to tell the truth without worrying that adults won't believe them. In 1985, Mr. Snuffleupagus was revealed in all his glory, although Big Bird couldn't help but rub it in some of the adults' faces: "You never believed me!"
