The LB&SCR E2 Class Tank Engine

The London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (LB&SCR) E2 class was a notable class of 0-6-0T steam locomotives that were meticulously designed by the renowned engineer Lawson Billinton. These locomotives were specifically crafted with the purpose of handling shunting activities and operating short distance freight trains with precision and efficiency. A total of ten exemplary locomotives belonging to this class were skillfully built during the years spanning from 1913 to 1916, each embodying the epitome of early 20th-century engineering and railway technology.

As time progressed, these iconic E2 class locomotives faithfully served the railway industry for several decades before eventually facing the inevitable fate of retirement from active service. The gradual phasing out of these esteemed locomotives commenced between 1961 and 1963, when they were tenderly bid adieu to the rails that they had dutifully traversed for years. Despite the bittersweet closure of this chapter in railway history, their legacy continues to live on, immortalized in the annals of locomotive excellence.

The meticulous craftsmanship, distinctive design features, and reliable performance of the LB&SCR E2 class locomotives stood as a testament to the ingenuity and dedication of their creators. While their physical presence may have faded from operational service, the enduring impact and influence they left on the realm of steam locomotives and railways remain ingrained in the hearts and minds of enthusiasts and historians alike.

This set is a updated version of my first E2 Class Tank Engine model. The set now includes a brand new updated design, new darker livery and swappable faces. The set also includes a beautiful platform for the engine to be presented on and includes a driver and fireman for the train. And last but not least, the set has plates that include facts about this engine. This would make a fantastic set for train fans and anyone else.
