Dinosaurs. You love to love them, you love to build them. I'm no different; the Stegosaurus has been a favorite dinosaur of mine (if not my favorite) for as long as I can remember. It evokes a certain element of fantasy and science fiction, given it's unique look, but the best part is that it was real! Unique, elegant, plant-loving...the Stegosaurus has it all, though not without its own danger--the four spikes on its tail can attest to that.
This project was ultimately a labor of love. LEGO has produced some quality Dinos over the many years, but the Stegosaurus has been waiting for an update for some time now, and my hope is that my design is the one to do it.
My goal was primarily realism, but in the process I aimed to not sacrifice what makes LEGO, LEGO. I added in a decent amount of moveable parts, from the head to the tail, though always with the aim to make it appear as life-like as possible. In doing that, I decided to make the Stego a smidge more disjointed as far as the color palettes goes, to give it that sort of dirty, lived-in world look. I'm happy with the result.
Overall I believe this build would be fun for all ages, and an excellent addition to any Dino-aficionado's shelf.
