Growing up, the Lego Adventures-Theme was perhaps my most beloved one, and even now it has a special place in my heart. One day while I was reminiscing about the adventures of Johnny Thunder and his crew, I started to wonder what kind of vehicle our brave adventurers would have used to get from Egypt to South/Meso-America and from there to the Orient (while in between also casually rediscovering dinosaurs). A ship made the most sense to me to reach all those far-off places. So I started to ponder how such a vessel would have looked like and eventually started experimenting in Stud.io. After a while I settled on the design that you see in front of you.
The ship isn't really based on a specific historical vessel or even type (one of the inspirations, though, was the USS Fulton III from the 19th century, as well as other ships of the Victorian era). I felt that a side-paddler would offer a unique design in the Lego-Portfolio and fit the adventurer's theme pretty well. I'm not a ship expert, though, and I just created a ship that I thought looked pretty and somewhat unique.
I'm sure it would make for a great and beloved Lego-set, because even though the Adventures-theme ended more than 20 years ago, I still know a lot a of people who, like me, remember this theme fondly, and I'm sure a lot of them would appreciate a new offical Adventures set, whether it is this one or something else.
I also believe that a ship like this, could also gain some favor outside of the Lego-Adventurers-Fanbase, as we have rarely, if ever, seen a "historical," non-pirate-ship from Lego done in minifigure-scale.
The interior of the ship is pretty sparse at the moment, and so far only the main cabin has an interior. The build uses approximatly 1400 pcs.
I hope this submission is interesting enough to you to support it.
See you out there, explorers!
