The main body of the C-bot rotates rapidly to penetrate the ground. Its sensors detect any alien technology and its cameras record the information. Guns at the base keep it protected.
It has a mini nuclear reactor to power it and create a shield around it. Because you never know what lurks underground.
It can also be used overground and will hoover over the roughest terrain, using its hovercraft technology at its base. It can just get anywhere.
