Sleepy towns call for sleepy train stations, and this station certainly qualifies. Nestled in the gap between two rail lines, this quaint Victorian depot doesn't see as much action as those of larger bergs, but that doesn't mean it is unqualified to handle the needs of the countryfolk. On the contrary, visitors have commented on both the timely service and restful atmosphere of the establishment. Regardless of the need, the old country station is ready to serve.

Oh no! My packages are running late! How can I rely on them being delivered in time?

Not to worry. Rory, the young bloke in the blue overalls, has his freight service organized down to a science. The warehouse behind the station adjoins the second track and is outfitted with plenty of storage space and all the necessary tools to keep the parcel flow smooth. It's a fairly simple process, really. Freightliner rumbles in. Rory grabs trolley and removes incoming packages. Rory retains trolley and moves outgoing packages to rolling stock. Freightliner rumbles out. See? Simple. The ability to stick to a rigid schedule is one of Rory's best attributes.

Ick. My train doesn't leave for 2 1/2 hours! I'm going to be so bored!

Not so fast. Maybe a bit of calm relaxation is actually what you need. Sometimes we are just too busy. Find a bench, kick up your feet, and catch a few quick zzz's. Enjoy the beautiful plants! Or, if your mind needs some stimulation, grab a newspaper from the stand and read up on some current events.

I'm so hungry! How am I going to survive?

See, I told you that extra time might come in handy! Grab a snack and a drink from Todd's sidewalk stand and head up to the rooftop balcony for some hors d'oeuvres. Not only is the seating comfortable, but the views of the countryside are also spectacular, mingling with the fresh breezes stirring your hair. Best wasted 2 1/2 hours of your life.

Random Stuff

This project began as a model of the Point of Rocks railroad station in Maryland, USA, but it quickly evolved into something fairly different. One piece that remains the same, though, is that the station is situated firmly between a split in the rails, accessing both rails at once. This model is specifically tailored to fit a switch track to add interest to your rail layout. (extra track not included)

Let's be honest. A station is essential to any railroad layout, and there are precious few stations to be had. If you would like a chance to add this to your collection, please support and share the word! I hope you enjoyed your time in the country train station.
