It was introduced between 1972 and 1986. The electromotive division (EMD), of General Motors, introduced the SD40-2 as a model of 3,000 CV thinking about an improvement on the SD40.
With almost 4000 units built for 29 railway companies, the SD is one of the best selling locomotives of all time. In fact, the British class 59 is the result of the processes and experiences learned from SD 40-2.
Union Pacific operates one of the largest fleets of SD40-2 locomotives. Having inherited many merger units with other rail operators, there was a time when Union Pacific owned more than 1,100 copies.
This model represents a locomotive SD40-2 and includes a minifigure and 4 straight tracks.
