Mystery Incorporated - Completely Posable Gang!
Posable figures of the Scooby-Doo Gang we all know and love, including Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and, of course, Scooby. The models are based off of one of my favorite installments in the franchise, Mystery Incorporated, a show that has filled countless nights in my childhood.
Fred has his iconic mascot, wielding a flashlight to investigate any dark hallway. And, don't worry, this brick-built Fred is just as ripped as his character in the show, which actually provided quite the building challenge as his range-of motion became a problem.
Daphne, of course, is right by Fred, a careful array of purples and a green scarf creating her outfit. Her hair was by far the most difficult part, as I wanted to be able to move her head some whilst keeping her hair seamless. The end result is one of my favorite parts of this build.
Velma finally has her glasses on (though they are easily removable) and has magnifying glass ready to find clues. Her high-collared and textured turtleneck was the hardest challenge and involved the most modifications to the internal structure in order to pull it off.
Shaggy, as one would expect, has a truly massive brick-built burger only he or Scooby could ever get down. Something tells me this is just a mid-mystery snack, though. His model was the first I ever made, so you can thank him for giving me faith in this idea!
And last, but certainly not least, Scooby-Doo. Scooby's model took several tries to get the proportions right, as well as the details. There's a lot of moving parts and special techniques that went into this model, but I feel the end result is instantly recognizable and full of life.
I built this because both LEGO and Scooby-Doo have been huge parts of growing up, so why not bring them together? LEGO has already done a fantastic job with more traditional sets in the genre, and I wanted to bring something a bit more commemorative while still being fun. Scooby-Doo always made me feel like I was part of the story, going on those adventures and sharing the jump scares, so I wanted to bring that world into this one for a change. The key goals of this project were making a model that was nostalgic, really cool, and also play-friendly. These models are not only a treat to build, but they also allow new stories to be made, with new adventures to be had. I wanted anyone getting this model to fall in love with the characters as much as I have, and to feel connected to the original series many of us have grown up with.
Overall, I think this would make an incredible LEGO set because of how much care I put into each detail. The project has a lot of nostalgia for fans of LEGO and Scooby-Doo alike. This idea works for play, display, and anything in-between. From model-builders to story-builders, the Gang will be happy to be part of any home. And if anyone is scared of the dark, how could you be when Scooby-Doo is right there on the shelf, ready to bust any ghost? With these meddling kids around, you can be sure no spooky stuff will go unchecked.
Thank you for checking it out, I hope you love it as much as I do!
