Modular Train Platforms
I've been a big fan of Lego trains for a while and wanted to make a platform which would do them justice. The official platforms are ok, but are a little small and I wanted them to have a more modern flavour, the thin yellow high-speed stripe for example.
With that in mind, the design began to take shape, relying on building it on its side rather than tile the platform in the more traditional manner. I also incorporated a couple of technic bricks to allow the platform segments to be joined together.
This means I can add extra segments to make the platform any length, to fit large trains like the Horizon Express (joining two sets together). The result is a very long train and it has a platform to match.
The other pictures show end parts of the platform, plus an island platform design for tracks either side.
