What is it?
This LEGO set is a 1940s city subway, designed to capture the golden era of public transit. With intricate architectural details, a classic silver train, and a cast of minifigures that reflect the romance and charm of the period, this set brings the underground world of mid-century subway systems to life.
Why did you build it?
I’ve been passionate about LEGO since childhood and have always had an affinity for trains, train systems, and the era of American innovation and design. Growing up, I spent countless days riding the subway with my dad, simply exploring the city from station to station. This build is a reflection of those memories—an ode to both the engineering marvels of the past and the people who made the subway system an iconic part of daily life. I wanted to create a set where every minifigure tells a story, bringing to life the romanticized energy of the 1940s subway experience.
Why would this make a great LEGO set?
LEGO has yet to fully explore the subway genre in its train lineup. With sets like the Crocodile Locomotive, the Orient Express, and the LEGO Expert series, there’s a clear love for historically inspired train and building models. This subway station would not only make an excellent display piece, but it would also introduce a new facet of train history to LEGO fans. Its modular design allows for expansion, making it a great addition to LEGO City layouts or standalone collections. With its unique time period, immersive storytelling, and realistic design, this set would bring an untapped era of transit history to LEGO enthusiasts worldwide. One of the train cars could always have a motor as well.
