Thank you so much for all the support so far!!!

I’d just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported so far and also everyone who will support in the future. In just two months this project has reached the half way mark. That means we have two years left to repeat what we have achieved in two months!

I’ve had a lot of feedback on the range of techniques used and so I thought I’d do a little technique breakdown for you here…

WATER
some people have said they would have preferred some colour to the water - for example blue. However, I felt that blue would clash with the warm colour scheme of the rest of the build. I also tried to add physical depth to the water by building a river bed two plates deep. I then covered that in transparent plates and tiles so that some parts were darker or ‘deeper’. I added white sections to give it direction and studs on the top to add more texture.

WOODEN FLOORS
The floors were actually the first sections I built. I’d seen the technique of only partially clicking together bricks before and thought it was perfect. It’s a very simple technique but results in a great texture. As long as you’re ok with delicate structures, I would definitely recommend this one.

LANDSCAPING
I used a range of techniques to convey a range of textures. These included building sideways and upside down! My only advice for landscaping is to experiment and don’t be afraid to rebuild. Colour balance is also a consideration which can be difficult especially when you have a limited number of pieces.

FOLIAGE
this is similar to landscaping in many ways. It can be approached through a more modular outlook. I built a few of these bush constructs and dotted them around. Experimenting with flexible or more natural elements helps to break up what can be a very rigid build.
