‘The morning’s mist is settling, vanishing into the reeds and the mosses that bedeck this rich land. Autumn’s colours seem to reveal themselves from behind the hazy curtain and transform the landscape into a scene awash with fire. Wolf’s gate, the gateway to a new territory, is nestled amongst this flame-like canopy, the trees crooked lines mirrored in the castle’s bowing walls and the soft colours in the glowing windows. What lies beyond…’
Castles have been a part of Lego’s product portfolio since the beginning of the minifigure. To say a theme centred around one style of building or period of history just keeps coming back, says a lot about its connection with the public. We just can’t get enough!
In all castle sets, there is always an odd angle as part of the composition or a hinged element to transform the build. To mirror this, I have built my castle with the middle section at an angle and the left hand tower off-grid to cover up the gaps! As well, I have included two interiors which can be accessed by hinged walls that are invisible when closed!
With four colourful minifigures and a range of dynamic areas, like the bridge or dungeon, the play potential is endless! It does of course, look great on display too with the sleek black border hemming the scene in, and could sit pride of place on a shelf.
Wolf’s gate is my biggest Lego build yet! It has many features to be discovered such as the dungeon round the back and the packed interiors. I spent a lot of time building the highly textured walls too as well as a lot of the foliage which was quite difficult.
Hope you like it and please do leave your thoughts in the comments!
