Most days of the year, you’ll find me wearing the same pair of canvas sneakers. They’re always black and white, just right with blue jeans, gray sidewalks, green grass, and fallen autumn leaves. They have to be canvas, low-top, and soft-soled. They're so light and comfortable that it feels like wearing nothing at all.
They’re flexible for every occasion. I walk in them, bike in them, and even go on light hikes in them. As long as the rain isn’t too heavy, they’ll hold up just fine. And when they eventually wear out, I simply get another pair of exactly the same - they don't cost too much.
Every day, when I look down at my feet, I see the same familiar view. I’ve observed it, photographed it, and finally decided to turn it into a brick painting using LEGO pieces.
This painting is built on a 64 x 40 stud canvas. I used a combination of plates and tiles in different shapes and shades of blue and gray to create depth and perspective. You can hang it on a wall, lean it on a shelf, or display it at any angle you like. Depending on how you place it, it may feel like you’re seeing your own feet, or seeing yourself through someone else’s eyes.
This brick painting is for lovers of canvas sneakers, or for anyone who finds beauty in the subject, the composition, the color palette, or simply the way of using LEGO bricks. If this speaks to you, please support the project. Let’s bring it to life together.
