When I decided to build this creation, I wanted to present a unique depiction of a familiar subject. We all know about the owl, but we don't often picture it in vibrant colors. I built a canvas and easel to set the stage for a painting of an owl. Instead of using traditional colors, I used bold and unusual color combinations like coral, gold, dark blue, and tan to make the owl stand out. To help bring it to life, I built the wingspan to be larger than the canvas and added some lines depicting motion as the owl is swooping out of the canvas. The paint tube and paintbrush complement the painting and complete the display.
The creation was photographed against a pink background and edited with a border of dark blue to match the color scheme of the build. It can be displayed on the brick-built easel or hung on a wall. The final footprint measures 64x31 studs and is 60 bricks high. I'm happy to see people have enjoyed the creation and expressed they would like to see it as a set. The build was awarded creation of the year in 2024 by Tips & Bricks and was also recently featured on Lego's Instagram. It will be on display at The Lego House in 2025.
