BrickHeadz: Mount Rushmore

800 supporters!

Another very round-numbered milestone!  Yay!

Thanks to all who have supported this project to date.  I really appreciate it!

My son and I visited our local LEGO store yesterday, and made some #BuildToGive ornaments.

For each ornament you build in the store or share a photo online with a hashtag of #BuildToGive, LEGO will donate a building set to a needy child.  It's fun and worthwhile.  

We've hit 400 supporters!  Thanks so much to all of you for your votes and shares!

And we've got two mountain goats now!  The parts came!

Now, I'm just waiting on a few dark green bits to finish off the trees, and then it's done!  Well, for now.  I'm sure I'll think of something else to tweak somewhere. :)

I had a little bit of time while some cheesecakes were baking to build some of Mount Rushmore.  I got as far as I could, I'm still waiting for a few parts to arrive.  But it's turning out pretty good.



I've made a couple of changes to the model to improve some real-world stability and shave a couple of pieces off here and there.  It's looking rather well.  In the image below, I'm testing out a bunch of color combinations for trees.  I think the dark green base for the trees work best, so I'll be swapping those in once I can order them.

 I can't wait for the rest of the parts to get here so that I can finish it!

Hi all!

Most of my parts have arrived.  It's a hectic week or two here with the holidays and work and stuff, so I don't have a whole lot of time to build, but I wanted to start building *something*, so I started with the two micro RV's.

I know, I know.  Not the best photo in the world.  But building has begun!

In other news, I ordered parts to start building a physical prototype today.  (Yes, I'm building the little RV's, too!)  I found a couple more parts around the trees that either don't exist or I can't get in sufficient quantities, so I'm going to experiment to see how I might design around those.  I'll keep you posted.

Payday's coming up, so I'm going to be buying a load of bricks and physically building one or two of these, and making any tweaks I find it needs along the way.  I'll post some additional pictures once the model's done.

Wow, folks!  We hit 100 supporters in two days!  That's pretty amazing!

Thank you so very much for the getting BrickHeadz Mount Rushmore over the first hurdle so quickly.  I hope we can keep the momentum going!  I'm scouring the web for blogs and pages that I can ask to post a link.  I'm also looking for local meet-ups and upcoming LEGO conventions that are close enough for me to travel to affordably to display it and spread the word in person over the next year.
