Mantises are an order (Mantodea) of insects that contains over 2,400 species in about 430 genera in 15 families. The largest family is the Mantidae ("mantids"). Mantises are distributed worldwide in temperate and tropical habitats. They have triangular heads with bulging eyes supported on flexible necks. Their elongated bodies may or may not have wings, but all Mantodea have forelegs that are greatly enlarged and adapted for catching and gripping prey; their upright posture, while remaining stationary with forearms folded, has led to the common name praying mantis.

The praying mantis is one of the most fascinating and mysterious insect species. From its way of life, passing through its mode of reproduction and its appearance, one could believe that it comes from another planet. Its forms are made to be reproduced in Lego. I spent a lot of time on this project and it was a real pleasure to work on it. This set has 290 pieces and almost all the body parts are articulated which give almost infinite possibilities of movement. A pleasure to build and a perfect set for AFOLs and nature lovers in search of creative decoration!

I hope that the presentation of my project appealed to you and that I can count on your vote so that one day we might be able to see this project become a reality.

I have other projects currently available on lego ideas, do not hesitate to take a look on my personal page, vote and follow me :)
