Help your fellow builder by leaving your feedback based on these three criteria:
- Originality: How original is this - never seen before?
- Building Techniques: How much skill do you think the creator of this MOC has, in terms of building technique?
- Details: Express how much you like the details of the build.
Your feedback is only shown to the creator as well as yourself. It is not available for other users to see. The creator won't see your user name.
The V8 engine is probably the most famous engine in motoring history. It has been used by many manufacturers for the mechanical qualities that characterize it, such as power and balance.
I am a vehicle engineer and a strong LEGO fan, so I decided to combine the two and this was born.
Obviously, it is a very simplified version, but composed of the main elements of an engine:
- Crankshaft
- Connecting rods
- Pistons
- Inlet and exhaust valves
- Camshafts
- Flywheel
- Cylinder block
How It Works:
The alternating motion of the pistons inside the cylinder block arises from the rotation of the crankshaft. At the same time, this rotates the camshafts that allow the valves to be operated. These return to close when the cams no longer exert pressure on them and the spring returns to lengthen. It can be seen that the pistons do not rise and fall all together, in fact this allows for more regular engine power and torque during revolutions.
About The LEGO Set:
- It is composed by about 1,800 pieces.
- It’s been built with all existing elements in the LEGO palette.
- There are both technic and brick elements.
