The Sign of ILY

The ILY is one of the most beautiful signs in American Sign Language. It combines the signs for the letters I, L and Y in the typing alphabet, thus forming the acronym ILY for "I Love You" 🤟. Today it is internationally recognized and widely used.

Why did I create an ILY sign chart? Because, although I myself am deaf and a user of sign language, I know that I am not alone, and sign language exists in the world.

The 3 colors, dark blue, yellow and turquoise, symbolize the deaf community and are grouped under the name "Sign Union Flag". Since July 9, 2023, it has been the official flag of deaf people around the world! We are proud to be part of it.

The 3 colors that make up the design of the flag are representative of conscience and brotherhood (Deafhood) through dark blue. Of the pride and linguistic power of the signs by the turquoise hand, and of enlightenment and hope for the second yellow hand.

The 4 different hand colors represent solidarity, and I add a yellow hand because the Lego Minifigures are originally yellow, with a choice of 11 shades. Everyone can select the colors on the painting as decoration, whether it is hung on the wall or placed with a door leg. 🤟🤟🏻🤟🏼🤟🏽🤟🏿
