10,000 SUPPORTERS can make this a real LEGO set!
Make this set the apple of your eye!
(But don’t let that apple get too close, or it will obscure your face!)
This set is a tribute to Belgian surrealist René Magritte and his famous painting, “The Son of Man,” which currently hangs in a private collection.
As the sky background evolves from a calm blue into stormy gray, the features of the anonymous figure grow equally surreal, his stolid suit giving way to a bright green apple that almost entirely obscures his face.
To capture the natural curvature of the suit fabric, curved bricks are used in tandem with slopes and tiles, helping to also accentuate the buttons, lapels, and shoulders.
The apple is completely three-dimensional, popping out of the build with a vibrant immediacy, asking the viewer to contemplate and question its unstated meaning.
You might just say that “The Son of Man” is the surreal deal.
The artwork is compatible with the brick-built framing system introduced in previous art sets, and it also features an integrated picture ‘hook’ – achieved via technic part 67139 – which makes it a snap to hang on the wall next to your other creations!
Comprised of just under 1200 pieces, this masterwork needs your support to become a real Lego set!
