Make an impression with this impressionist masterpiece!

This set is a tribute to the French artist Claude Monet and his famous painting “Woman with a Parasol - Madame Monet and Her Son,” which currently hangs in the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.

The wide variety of construction techniques not only provide for an engaging build experience, but also capture the painting’s vibrant interplay of colors and form:

  • White bricks, inset into the blue sky background, represent the tufts of clouds that passed by as the artist painted his wife and son.
  • Plates and sloped bricks are used to construct the hill upon which they stood, while different shades of green are incorporated to represent the shadow that Madame Monet casts upon the meadow grass.
  • Tiles and curved slopes mimic Madame Monet’s dynamic dress as it billows in the wind that buffets over the top of the hill, and a ball-and-socket joint is used to attach her arm, which subtly holds her umbrella aloft, shading her from the afternoon sun.

The artwork is compatible with the brick-built framing system introduced in previous art sets, and it also features an integrated picture ‘hook’ – achieved via technic part 67139 – which makes it a snap to hang on the wall next to your other creations!
