James Webb Space Telescope (JWST)

After launching and deploying, NASA Webb's hexagonal primary mirrors (and its secondary mirror) have to be individually adjusted so that they line up to within a fraction of a micron and work like one big mirror. This LEGO Idea model faithfully reproduces that motion. Each hexagonal segment can be independently moved. Even the secondary mirror wiggles!

This LEGO JWST model allows builders to create all of the major subsystems of the real Webb Telescope, including the Integrated Science Instrument Module (ISIM), the ISIM Electronics Compartment (IEC), and the Aft-Optics System as shown below.
