Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

This is my Lego rendition of the classic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car! I have built the model to be very close to minifig scale in that in can accommodate all 4 figures comfortably, however I think it is in fact just a little larger than that scale in order to fit in as much detail as possible. The 4 mini-figures are of course Caractacus Potts, Truly Scrumptious and Jeremy and Jemimah. The wings can all be attached with little technic links underneath the body of the car, however I think the car looks really great without the wings too. I tried designs which could fold the wings into the body of the car but in order to maintain the overall look of the car with and without wings it made more sense for them to just attach.

I designed the front with chrome pieces but it would look just as effective in light bluish grey I think, alongside the gold detailing, including the thin gold strips on either side of the hood, as with the original car, all of which is brick built. I have tried to bring in the woodgrain of the back of the car with the levelled curves and tan bricks underneath, as well as having the red interior and a sizeable driving wheel and dashboard too. There is also  room for a printed GEN 11 number plate on the car, of course.
