LEGO Review Results for Space Troopers!

First and foremost, congratulations to NickRoyer for reaching 10,000 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO, and toward everyone for all of the support of the Space Troopers  project! The results of the LEGO Review are in and you can see full details on the LEGO CUUSOO Blog.

Review Results for Space Troopers
Our team has thoroughly considered the possibility of releasing this project as a LEGO set according to the criteria of the LEGO Review. Unfortunately the LEGO Review Board has decided that we will not produce this project as a set.

Thank you to NickRoyer for the passion and creativity that went into this project, and to all of you who voted so that we would have the opportunity to consider this as a potential LEGO set. We’re sorry to deliver this disappointing news.

How do we arrive at our decisions?
By gaining 10,000 supporters, a fan-submitted project moves from the Idea Stage to the Review Stage, where it earns the opportunity to be considered as a future LEGO® set in a quarterly process called the “LEGO Review.” Gaining 10,000 Supporters is just the first step in this process.

A "LEGO Review Board" composed of professional set designers, product managers, marketing representatives, and other key team members examine each qualified project. They build concept models and determine if the concept meets our high standards for what it takes to be a LEGO product; including factors such as playability, safety, and fit with the LEGO brand. Every potential LEGO product, including those developed internally, goes through a similar process and must meet the same standards.

The amount of time this takes varies due to all the factors involved. Unfortunately, this process sometimes means that well-conceived projects that gain just-as-passionate followings have to be turned down. Please note that the LEGO Review Board makes all final decisions on which new sets the LEGO Group will release based on CUUSOO projects.

Why was this project re-named to Space Troopers?

This project has been renamed from the original, user-submitted name, because it coincided with a trademark owned by another company who requested we cease using the trademark. For more information, see this blog post.

Congratulations on 10,000 Supporters, NickRoyer, GreenLead, and CrashSanders!

Space Troopers is a fun concept, well thought out, and with broad-based support. You've done a great job of presenting it concisely with a lot of possibilities. Further it is a great example of a high quality concept refined over time into something that looks like it has real potential as a LEGO product.

Congratulations on achieving 10,000 supporters. We now officially advance this project to the Review phase.

What happens now?
This project moves from the Idea stage to the Review stage. A "LEGO Review Board" composed of designers, product managers, and other key team members will examine the idea. We'll build concept models and determine if the concept meets our high standards for what it takes to be a LEGO product. This includes factors such as playability, safety, and fit with the LEGO brand. Every potential LEGO product goes through a process like this and must meet the same standards.

The LEGO Review Begins in December
This project qualifies for the quarterly review beginning in December, which will also include all other projects that reach 10,000 between now and December 3. For more information about the quarterly review process, see this blog post.

The review is a thorough process and from its start, and can take several months. When finished, we make a "go/no go" decision to develop and sell a product based on the Space Troopers concept.

When the review is complete, we will inform you of our decision. If green-lit, this project goes into the longest phase of the project; the Development phase. During this time, LEGO model designers refine the product and develop it for release, we create the product materials (box, instructions, marketing), and get everything ready for a production run. This also takes several months.

We will post follow-up information and our decision here.

Congratulations on 5,000+ Supporters!

Dear NickRoyer, GreenLead, and CrashSanders,

Congratulations on passing this milestone of 5,000 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO for the Space Troopers! You're halfway there!

All of your activity on this project is inspiring, and we love seeing the new things you come up with for a possible Space Troopers theme. We suggest you bring some focus to your concept in light of what we've said about playthemes on the blog. Check out #6 on the post Cheat Sheet: How to Pass the LEGO Review with Flying Colors.

Note that as a part of our move to streamline the review process, we will not be producing concept models for projects before the review.

Best wishes as you continue on your journey to achieving 10,000 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO.

Congratulatory message from LEGO for +500 votes

Congratulations on all of the supporters! We're quite impressed with the quality of work and the level of thought that has gone into making this concept a legitimate contender for an official LEGO theme.

We could go on and on about the details and how cool we think this is. The helmet design is truly unique and it would be great to see that as a LEGO element. You've done a great job designing uniforms and decorations that fit the LEGO company style. Also, the concept models are just the right degree of complexity for official models. It's clear you've put thought into the scope and presentation of your concept.

Best of luck on your journey to 10,000 supporters!
