Shark in the Water!

I have galeophobia—an extreme and irrational fear of sharks. Ironically, constructing a large dorsal shark fin became a way for me to confront this anxiety. The dorsal fin is the most recognizable and evocative part of a shark. It terrifies, intrigues, and awakens something primal within us, triggering an instinctual fear.
Using materials I had at home, I built a shark fin breaking through the water’s surface, creating small waves. My goal was to capture the hydrodynamic elegance of the fin—its stealth, speed, and precision as it slices through the ocean. I deliberately kept the design minimal, avoiding additional colors, characters, or objects to ensure the observer's full attention remained on the fin’s stark, terrifying beauty.
Beyond fear, this piece also serves as a reminder of these majestic beasts’ ecological importance. As apex predators, sharks play a crucial role in maintaining the health of our oceans. By leaving the rest of the shark to the imagination, I invite the viewer to engage with both its mystique and significance.
This creation makes a "fintastic" gift for aquarium owners, surfers, beach lovers, fishermen, summer vacationers, shark-movie enthusiasts, and kids alike!
