This is the Duck Family! A Mama Duck and two Ducklings built with real ducks in mind. The Mama duck has wings that open up, a head that looks around, tail feathers that swish, and a beak that opens and closes. The Duck family is ready for play or for putting on display!
I set out to build an animal using the Technic pieces from my Ferrari 488 GTE set and I ended up with a family of ducks! I love the scale model LEGO Technic car sets, how they look and all the functional elements, and I really love trying to remodel them into different looking cars. This time I thought it would be fun to make an animal out of the technic pieces and the panels used for the doors reminded me of a wing! So, I decided to make a duck because my wife loves ducks and we hope to own some someday! I built most of the body and wings of the duck using the Ferrari pieces and then I transferred to BrickLink Studio when I needed some more options. As I worked on the build, I realized I could make Ducklings using smaller versions and quantities of the Mama Duck pieces! The Ducklings added a cute and interactive element to the build and made me think how it could be a really fun LEGO set to build with my niece one day!
This could be a great LEGO set because it could apply to many different people and ages. The technic pieces appeal to teens and adults and the subject matter of animals can apply to all ages! It could make for a great family build and then the set could be a great display piece or a fun toy with all the movements of the Mama duck and all the ways she can interact with the Ducklings!
