My project is a steam shunting locomotive that used to be found in train good yards and sidings pushing or pulling trucks or carriages, although probably more ordinary than these Christmas carriages.
It was inspired by Lego set 7727 which featured a piston mechanism that I wanted to improve using common Technic thin beams and pistons.
The train is powered using a large powered up motor which can run on the app or train controller.
The difficult part was securing the motor and the gearing to prevent them flying apart, as there is a lot of resistance against moving the weight of the motor, battery box and carriages. All 6 wheels are motorised in order for the piston mechanism to maintain the correct relative position, as well as providing the required traction to give a fair speed.
This would make a great set as it is different, unusual build, around 560 pieces, and fun to watch the train go around the track with Santa, reindeers and trees spinning around as shown in the following video.
