6,000 Supporters, and a New Cat

More supporters inevitably bring more attention. We knew something was up when the inside of our Naquadah generator had been replaced with used pinball machine parts…

I can’t tell you how exciting it is to be 60% of the way there! Thank you so much for all of your support, and our shared hope that LEGO will consider turning this concept into an official set!

I do have a small change to propose though.

Schrödinger is cool, and I have no plans to get rid of him, but the mould I chose has been discontinued for years. I don’t really like the current cat design as I feel it’s way too big - no cat is that big in real life.

But what about the kitten piece? It’s actually the proper size for a regular cat at minifig scale. What do you think? Would this new, smaller cat work better in my model?

Let me know in the comments, and onwards and upwards!

Installing all 39 glyphs on the gate wasn’t as easy and the SGC expected it to be. But once Master Sergeant Siler got on the case, any lingering problems were quickly resolved.

We’re well on our way into the second half of our journey. Only 4,500 more supporters to find, and don’t forget the new planned update which will be revealed once we add a further 1,166 supporters to the total!

5,000 Supporters - Chevron 4 Encoded

Reaching the halfway mark is a pretty big deal, and to thank all my project’s supporters, I wanted to reveal something special. Thanks to a very talented custom printing company, I can now unveil the gate as it was always supposed to be, complete with all 39 glyphs. Sly and Walter are busy installing them as I type.

Should this become an actual set, imagine 28 unique printed tiles replacing those ingot pieces I was using up until now…

But let’s not rest on our laurels. 5,000 is amazing, but the goal is 10,000. Please do add your support if you haven’t already, help others know about this design by spreading the word, and I’ll see you at the next major milestone: 6,666 supporters, when I’ll be revealing something pretty different, and pretty exciting to boot…

With the popularity of Stargate rising, everyone seems to want to join the team, so General Hammond had to implement strict rules.

Hope you enjoy this latest fun celebratory photo. We’re less than 500 away from the next major update!

Keep on supporting and keep on spreading the word!

4,000 Supporters (Photo)

We’ve reached 4,000 supporters in 44 days. I’m very humbled and grateful to all the fans out there who have taken the time to add their support to my project once again, and to all the new ones too!

My celebratory photo is having a little fun with the multiverse (with a nod to the latest Dr Strange movie). SG-1 did play around with the concept of parallel worlds before it was cool, mind, and I started to wonder how would a muppet movie made by the Jim Henson Company have turned out!

Which SG-1 character would fit which muppet? This is my take, which would be yours?

Let me know in the comments, keep voting, keep spreading the word, and we’ll get to the next major update soon!

3,333 Supporters - Chevron 3 Encoded

Walter’s just popping in to make sure the 3rd chevron is properly encoded, as this is a pretty big update, and it’s all about minifigs.

As I mentioned before, six is pretty much the maximum number of characters I can have for a set this size, but there are others I’d like to include, especially since the SG-1 team changed over the years.

LEGO often prints facial expressions on two sides of the face… so why not use that technique to represent different characters, without actually including additional minifigs? Add a handful of hair pieces, and you’d be able to recreate the team, no matter which season is your favourite, as showcased in the animation at the bottom of this update.

Sadly there’s no room for Vala Mal Doran, our “sexy female alien”, but I did make a version of her, if I can somehow find a way to include her at some stage…

Let me know what you think in the comments, and onwards to the 4th chevron which will be lit up once we get to 5,000 supporters 🙂

3,000 Supporters & Surprise Update

As we pass the 3,000 supporter milestone, I thought about my Jaffa warriors. Not being allowed to showcase custom moulds - them’s the rules - I have to draw inspiration from existing minifigures in LEGO's inventory.

When I first submitted my original project, I used a long necked snake head, which, although ok, was really far from accurate. I then 'upgraded' to a head from from the Chamber of Secrets sets, slightly recoloured.

Although better, it still doesn’t really match the overall shape of the true Serpent Guard. Only now, I found a new piece thanks to the re-release of Ninjago’s Mezmo character. With a little digital manipulation I think this one is actually quite close to the real thing - at least until this set is approved, and LEGO make a custom mould for it! ;)

Let me know what you think in the comments, and let’s keep the momentum going! :D

It’s taken 25 days to reach a quarter of my Stargate’s overall goal. This is amazing! Thank you so much to all of you who are helping make my design’s second trip through LEGO Ideas happen.

To celebrate, here’s a photo which I hope fans of the franchise will enjoy :)

Overnight, we reached 20% of our second journey!

I made this fun celebratory photo to highlight the recent update I made to my project: finally adding a customised print for Teal’c’s head, and the inclusion of another Easter egg to the proposal.

Although we’ve achieved a lot in such a short time, the road ahead is still a long one. Do add your support if you haven’t already, help by spreading the word, and I’ll see you on the other side…

1,666 Supporters - Chevron 2 Encoded

Hello fellow gaters!

We've reached the second Chevron milestone, and this deserves an update - well, a couple of small updates really.

First up, you know how much I love Easter eggs, and there’s another I wanted to include: the SGC’s Stargate always needs to be fixed, and what better mechanic than Master Sergeant Sylvester “Sly” Siler?

Except… I can’t really include any more minifigs: due to the small size of my proposal, six is already pushing it. So unfortunately, I can’t bring Sly into the project.

However, he would be nothing without his trusty - and massive - wrench!

So that’s what I’m including into this proposal, tucked away under the ramp, ready to be used at a moment’s notice.

But that’s not all:

There’s something I’ve been meaning to do for a long while, and something that fans of this project kindly overlooked: Teal’c’s golden forehead tattoo!

But thanks to a very kind custom printing company, this is no longer a glaring omission, and Teal’c now looks perfect. The tattoo is well hidden when he wears his beanie, and it still looks great when he later grows his hair.

So there you go, two updates to celebrate getting 1,666 supporters. But let’s keep the support going: vote for it if you haven’t already, and be sure to spread the word! And as an incentive, I have another update planned - once we activate Chevron 3 with 3,333 supporters!

For my fans who would rather watch than read, here's a video about this update :)
