Tokyo Tower (東京タワー) is an iconic and stunning landmark. Symbol for the Japanese post war growth. Actor and centerpiece in movie, TV, manga and other media. An established part of Japanese culture and something many associate with Japan. In my opinion a building deserving of a LEGO set.

Why i build it?

I always was a fan of industrial steal constructions and lattice towers. Their minimalistic and functional construction laid bare to the eye of the viewer. Tokyo Tower, with its red and white colour scheme and its cultural importance for Japan, i always found of particular beauty and interest. After seeing the newest Eiffel Tower set by LEGO, i was inspired to try my hand on Tokyo Tower. However i did not want it to be quite as big. After various attempts with different techniques i arrived at the endresult i'm presenting here.

Why do i belive it would make a great LEGO set?

One of my favourite LEGO-series always has been Architecture. Not only do i find buildings especially suited to be made out of LEGO. It's also fascinating to me how details are implemented in the relatively small, given scale. Further the construction and iconic aspect of buildings makes them nice display models and memorabilia.

I believe that Tokyo Tower would fit right into the existing line up of buildings made out of LEGO.

Specifications of the model

The set includes Tokyo Tower itself, the visitor center/mall and close surroundings. I tried to create a detailed display model that at the same time is not too voluminous:

Part count: 785 parts
Width: 17.7 cm
Depth: 16.7 cm
Height: 48.0 cm

I hope that I managed to do Tokyo Tower justice and that you will like it too.

Thank you for reading and have a nice day :)
