Fokker E.III: First World War Aircraft

The Fokker E.III ‘Eindecker’ was a truly historic aircraft. It was on this machine that, in 1915, the first operational interrupter gear was employed, allowing a forward firing machine gun to fire through the propeller arc. This development was so successful that the following period became known as ‘The Fokker Scourge’.  Many of the German aces of the first half of the war came to prominence while flying this aircraft.

I have omitted 'rigging' these models with wire bracing as I thought it best to present the concepts in unadulterated form, but I have tried simulating the rigging of the originals using black thread and it really adds a lot of character, particularly for monoplanes. I plan to show some 'rigged' versions as updates in the near future.
