1 week until imminent failure!

Thank you everyone who supported this project, but unfortunately it seems like most people using this site are either idiots or EXTREMELY wishful thinkers, because this https://ideas.lego.com/projects/123077 has got over 1000 votes in a few weeks, and despite it being a brilliant piece of construction, (seriously, kudos to it's builder - looks great) it will NEVER get approved by Lego, as it would be one of the largest sets in existence (there have only ever been star wars licensed sets as large) and Ideas wouldn't have the production capacity. Not to mention the grapple hook on the front has been customised by gluing together other cannibalised pieces and the mock-up box art, which break Lego Ideas rules.

I'm not spiteful that my project has failed, but I am annoyed at the Lego Ideas team that they have allowed this website to become a joke. The majority of supported sets are not approved because they're just too big, and Lego are doing nothing to prune these ideas as just nice show-pieces.

This has culminated in not a single set being approved from the previous round of submissions.

Maybe we would have gathered more attention and votes if there wasn't so much rubbish and behemoths that will never have a chance.

Happy Holidays!

Wa-hey! 5% of the way there!

Well, it's a milestone, and with just 25 days left to go, without a miracle, this has as much chance of getting supported as Mr. Freeze and Firefly becoming flatmates. Please reach out to anyone you know who has supported any other batmobile idea (there are 2000+ of them out there) and encourage them to push it over 1000 before Christmas, and then we'll get another 6 months to get to 10,000.

Happy Holidays!

Potential new version and thanks to FTG Prime

First of all, thanks for the support to reach over 400 people. I still don't think this is going to get anywhere, but I'm glad there are some of you passionate enough about this project to actually try to build it yourself - I'm looking at you FTG Prime! He's been kind enough to offer to take pictures of it when it's finished, but he's having some trouble getting the windshield.

It looks promising so far! https://www.flickr.com/photos/legom3gaking/20597208074/ Can't wait to see more pictures!

To be honest, I don't think this is a great design. I was trying to be faithful to the lego batman in-game version, which is fine to look at as weightless digital bricks but sucks as a playset.

I have JUST started playing Arkham Knight (PC patch came out last week), and now I know better what it's capable of, I have some cool ideas of how to make a MUCH better version of (mostly) entirely my own design, including:

  • Titan XP joints for the wheel arm assemblies, which should be tons more stable
  • Seats in the back, and some passengers
  • Missle to fire from the front (using modern spring brick)
  • Wheels that pivot better on technic axles
  • A gun that doesn't have to be detached entirely
  • Using fewer rare bricks in colours that actually exist - so hopefully I can make one myself.

I don't know if it will be soon, if I will get round to it at all, or if my ideas will pan out into a complete new model, but the 400 odd people who have supported me make me want to at least not walk away from this project.

So long and thanks for all the fish

It looks like this is never going to hit it's target, as much as I'd like to see this become a real set, the preceding Arkham Knight Bat Tank has soaked up the majority of the votes, and even that hasn't made it anywhere near the goal. Maybe if I had uploaded mine first we would be a bit closer. Never say never, but now the game has been released (lets not talk about PC... for me it's not really released yet, but SOON PLEASE!) it's a lot less likely this will get to its goal, let alone past approval.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who DID support this model, and to say thanks, (and as it's been HEAVILY requested) here is the instructions:

Spoilers: there are lots of pieces in unavailable colours, so I had to make substitutions, and several of the pieces are very rare. I have almost every superheroes set and I can only build it to 80%. The UCS Tumbler would help me, but it's just too expensive and I still wouldn't have them all. I seriously cannot believe there has never been a trans-clear windshield that shape, who knew!

More renders and next potential goal!

Hello everyone!

Thanks so much for your votes getting this project to 100 supporters in a relatively short time.

What we've achieved so far is great, but to get this project to succeed we need to be accumulating around 30 supporters each day due to the 365 day limit, but ideally if we want this available around the time Arkham Knight is released, we need at least double that. Once we reach 200-250 supporters, as long as our daily increase is good, we should get featured on the trending page, which should be a huge boost. Also keep your fingers crossed for a staff pick! So please tweet, share and blog about this project (even telling people in real life should work too!) and we can make this thing happen :D

As promised, here are more renders of the model from different angles. First, front and back:

As a further incentive to get to the next big stage - 1000 supporters - I will attempt to recreate the Arkham Knight batsuit in LEGO form. Not just the chest like most batmen, but front, back, arms, waist, legs and even sides of legs. I'd like this to be the most detailed batman figure ever made, and here's Rocksteady's fantastic inspiration:

As well as this, I am considering doing a similar project for the 1989 Batmobile which appears from the wreckage of this Batmobile in the same game, LEGO Batman 3, Beyond Gotham. Please let me know in the comments if you would like to see this and follow me or this project to be informed if/when it does happen!

Thanks again,

Nintynuts

I just want to add, the image embedding on this site is terrible. I've added High-res links below each picture.

Here's the main image too
