Capture the magic of a traditional nutcracker in Lego!
Nutcrackers, particularly carved wooden ones, have been a holiday tradition for over 500 years. For many, having a nutcracker statue on display, or attending a performance of Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker is an essential part of getting into the spirit. What better way to celebrate than to display a Lego nutcracker?
This large-scale nutcracker sculpture makes for festive holiday decor. It’s a great project to build on a cold winter night in front of a roaring fire! The nutcracker is fully functional (well, may not actually crack nuts!), with a working rear handle that opens and closes the decorative mouth and beard.
I created this nutcracker specifically using more traditional building techniques for a classic look. The sculpture is largely hollow to allow for the internal mechanism, as well as to keep weight down and piece count low enough for a fun, simple build.
