You never know who is watching you while hiking in the woods….
Inspired by the crafts at the local medieval fair, the idea of what lurks, rather, what guards the woods came to mind. This build is a mix of the magic and mystery of dragons with the natural beauty and wonder of the natural world; combining them both into this build.
This build is great for a display piece as the guardian is not obvious upon first look, the guardian blends itself with the environment. I tried to craft a calm and serene creek and forest that many are used to hiking through as the “throne”, and made sure the guardian appeared well set in the wood. With the camouflage, this creates an “AH HA!” moment to enjoy the discovery of the guardian, combining fantasy with the real world in a whimsical scene.
This build sits at ~2500 pieces, one minifigure, and 7 (ish) animals
Base with dragon sits at 13in x 14.5in x 10.5in
This is both a digitally rendered model in stud.io, and also a physical model as well.
The dragon (drake) can rise from their throne and is its own pose able figure, can be displayed stand alone from the base. The minifigure and deer also help set the scale of the guardian, as well as inhabit his domain, giving depth to the build.
