Niagara Falls is a true wonder of the natural world. Located on the border between the United States and Canada, Niagara Falls consists of three separate waterfalls -- American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horseshoe Falls. With a height of more than 165 feet (50 m), Niagara Falls is ranked as one of the top 10 tourist destinations in the world, drawing an estimated 22 million visitors each year.
Lego Niagara Falls consists of two builds, for a total of 1052 pieces. The American side (465 pieces) includes the American Falls as well as the smaller Bridal Veil Falls. It also includes the Niagara Falls Observation Tower, the Cave of the Winds tour, and a Maid of the Mist tour boat. The Canadian side (587 pieces), meanwhile, includes the famous Horseshoe Falls and also a Hornblower Niagara Cruises tour boat.
This design is an update of my previous Lego Niagara Falls set on Lego Ideas, with several significant upgrades. The American side has a new internal structure to support the waterfall. Also, the base is larger than the previous design, to allow room for the Maid of the Mist tour boat. The Canadian side, meanwhile, is an entirely new build. The waterfall is wider and deeper than the original version, providing for a more realistic design. The internal structure is completely new. I've also added the modern-style Hornblower Niagara Cruises tour boat, which is the official boat tour operator for Niagara Falls, Canada.
Niagara Falls will make an excellent Lego set because it is a internationally recognized landmark and tourist destination for travelers from across the world. It puts a fresh spin on the microscale Lego Architecture series by applying the design style to the beauty of our natural world.
