Lobster Boat (Nor'Easter)

Smell the ocean air... Feel the sea spray on your face... Come aboard the "Nor'Easter" lobster boat as it braves the unforgiving, but always glorious Atlantic Ocean!  

This modern lobster boat is an iconic vessel of the North Atlantic. It is loosely based on the "Man of War," which is the preferred boat of many lobstermen. This hearty sea-craft evokes a spirit of adventure and discovery, as well as a dose of New England charm and nostalgia. 

This model features a moving hoist, lobster traps, navigation charts, a buoy and everything else the crew needs to reel in their catch of the day. At 410 pieces, this small(er) but mighty set is composed of versatile pieces that provide countless possibilities for nautical adventures, leaving room for your imagination to lead the way.  

I chose to make this set, because as a kid, I always wanted to go lobstering. I grew up in Maine seeing the boats come and go from the harbors, loaded with traps, and it always seemed so exciting. I loved learning about the lobsters and how the lobstermen caught and brought in their catch.

I think this would make a great lego set, because it is full of possibilities and imagination. It doesn't matter where someone lives, when they have this set, they can feel like they too are setting out to sea to catch lobster with their very own boat, crew and traps. The lobster boat is a very recognizable ship that would be a stand-out on the shelves when displayed. It is also something that would probably interest people of all different ages. As a smaller and simpler set, it could pair well with many other sets.
