Are you ready to go out on the water? Well, hop aboard this lobster boat, and set sail!
When my grandpa was younger, he was a big fisherman. He owned many boats and spent a lot of time on the sea. I really enjoy listening to his stories of boating on the open ocean. I loved them so much, I wanted to try to recreate his experiences.
Making the lobster boat turned out to be quite a challenge, because of the distinctive bow shape and the curved bottem of the hull. I used different techniques, such as the front deck of the boat, where I attached bricks on their side to create a smooth surface. On the bottom of the hull, I used 1x2 vertical hinge bricks bent at an angle to design a rounded bottom. For the pointed bow, I used 1x4 horizontal hinge bricks to create a curved front.
This would make a great Lego set because it is a sturdy, realistic set that is fun to play with or use as a model for boat lovers. Lego has yet to create a lobster boat, which is one of the big parts of life on the New England coast. The boat has a small stand for display. It also features a working winch to haul the lobster traps up with, a lobster trap with two lobsters and a crab, and a fisherman minifigure. The upper part of the boat can seperate off the bottom of the hull, to make it easier to play with. A spinning propeller and a turnable rudder add to the realistic looks of the ship.
