This is my small-scale LEGO interpretation of Arrille's Tradehouse building from by beloved cRPG game The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
I wanted to bring some of the game's magic to the brick world, and I picked this building because in my mind it stands as the most iconic and recognizable. It is one of the first places every player encounters after starting the game.
I like building in small scale, as this makes every brick count. It also stimulates your imagination to find new roles for well-known bricks. The final build does not have play features, but is meant for display.
Why do I think this would make a great LEGO set?
Firstly, it looks wonderful and can be displayed from all sides. The colors are carefully picked, the build is detailed and elegant. It evokes a feeling of cosiness.
Secondly, the process of building is full of surprises. It uses a number of clever techniques to achieve the details, such as the window recess, the overhanging windowsills, the wood pattern on the walls, the smooth grass surfaces, the small-scale doors, the chimney that goes through the roof. I think it would be fun to build even for seasoned builders.
Thirdly, the relatively small number of pieces would make this set very affordable. This in combination with great display potential and fun building process could make it a desirable set for all kinds of people.
Technical details:
- number of bricks: around 970
- dimensions: 17cm x 17cm x 27cm
