The PlayStation 2 has returned!
The PlayStation 2 is a sixth-generation home video game console developed and released by Sony Computer Entertainment in the year 2000. Upon its release, it became a massive success and it was quickly sold out across the entire World. The PlayStation 2 remains as the best-selling video game console of all time as of July 2024. While being able to play both PlayStation and PlayStation 2 format discs, the PS2 was also able to playback DVD discs, which was a huge reason why it became very popular, as the PS2 was one of the cheapest DVD Players back in the day.
One of the reasons why I decided to build a PS2 was that I have a lot of fond memories playing the PS2 as a kid and as an adult, as this is my favorite video game console of all time. I also decided to build this as video game related LEGO sets have been successful.
This model includes 2114 pieces and is close to 1:1 scale compared to the original PlayStation 2 (Non-slim models)
The model features an openable disc tray and movable disc reading lens. The Memory Card covers can be removed to plug in the Memory Cards into their slots. The controller can be plugged in to the console and the inside of the controller features the 7 orbs from the PS2 Menu as an easter egg. The top of the console can be removed. The components can then be removed.
I think this would be a great LEGO set, as I think this would be a fun way to study what the PlayStation 2 holds within. The impact the PS2 left to the world is still around, as many still play on the PlayStation 2, even though the console was discontinued years ago. I believe this would make a great gift for those who like video games or to those who had (or still have!) fond memories with the PS2.
