Wonka - A World of Our Own

A world of our own! Based on the new hit movie, “Wonka”, this set captures the iconic moment Willy Wonka opens his first candy store. This movie was a breath of fresh air for me and I loved it completely and unreservedly. I wanted this set to capture the most fun elements of the film, so I designed minifigures for Willy, Noodle, and Lofty. And because I was having fun with it, I created two different outfit styles for both Willy and Lofty. My personal favorite is Lofty’s “rescue” outfit.

I really wanted this set to convey the magic of this scene while also leaning into the current Lego botanicals innovations. I love how they make flowers out of the most unexpected pieces. I also tried for a balance between movie accuracy and the esthetics Lego sets need. For example, in the movie, the candy pathway is a solid pink color, but I knew this would be extremely boring to build and display. I opted for the mosaic version you see here. I also changed up the flower colours from what you see in the movie to something more energetic and colourful. Lastly, I also changed the shape of the tree to ensure set stability.
