New version LAATi
There is a new version of the LAAT available on rebrickable. Please check out http://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-9632/JBB_777/laati/#info
Improved version LAAI
The wings are one stud longer, the wing turrets changed and the front door received added detail.
Piece count
The piece count of a single module is relatively low for its size. It is basically a
- floor (around 500 pieces, mainly tiles)
- rear wall (around 2000 bricks)
- entrance (around 300 pieces)
- roof (around 400 relatively large pieces)
So around 3200 pieces in total for the model shown. The rest is illusion because mirrors are used.
The piece count could be reduced by using bigger pieces. For instance, if I had them, I could have used mostly 6x6 tiles for the floor. The pieces needed for the floor would drop from 500 to 150. Likewise the wall and roof piece count could be reduced dramatically.
