Houses are nothing new here. But this "Bauhaus Ikone" house is a model of the 1926 Gropius Villa, in Dessau (Germany).
The Directors House. And it looks brand new.
I'm a big fan of the Bauhaus period and I love it. This house was designed and built by Walter Gropius, the founder of the Bauhaus. W. Gropius built this house for himself. The special thing was that it wasn't made of bricks but was cast in concrete and had a large cube as an overhang. The interior was furnished with modern lightweight wooden walls that were plastered and with wall units as room dividers. Unfortunately, the house was destroyed in WW2. In 2013-14 it was new built as a museum monument. Today it is the first point in the famous masters' house settlement in Dessau. If it had not been destroyed, it would be 100 years old in 2026 with the famous Bauhaus school in Dessau. This would be my reason Lego could build it.
This Lego replica of Hous Gropius is not to scale and is fully equipped on the ground floor. I kept the room layout to the original plans by W.Gropius. The upper floor only has the room layout and gives every Lego fan of you the chance to find and create your own Bauhaus style.
The Director's House built by Walter Gropius in Dessau in 1926 has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996 along with the three other Masters' Houses.
