The Dockside Inn

Background

I was inspired to build this creation out of my love for Lego Castle and Lego Pirates and was looking to make a build that could stand its own alongside either theme. An Inn or Tavern shows up as a center point in storytelling for both fantasy / medieval stories and pirate stories, but Lego hasn't had a large-scale Inn available in recent years. I originally build this to stand alongside the Medieval blacksmith shop in my personal collection but after seeing how well the MOC turned out decided to post it here to see if others would be interested in a similar build.

Description and Story

On the edge of a medieval city nested between a main road and the harbor lies the Dockside Inn. Run by an Innkeeper and her daughter the Dockside Inn serves as a place for the denizens of the city to relax eat and drink after a hard day's work as well as a refuge for wary travelers looking for a place to say the night.

Off the main road we can see one such wary traveler climbing the steps in search of shelter as a peasant passes by with his cart full of goods:

Meanwhile on the dockside of the Inn some sailors from a ship make port on a rowboat and tie it down to the dock as their captain heads inside:

Inside the Innkeeper runs the kitchen as her daughter serves food to two Castle Guards that are on break:

With so many guests the Innkeeper sends her daughter down to the cellar for another keg. She always keeps ample supply on hand for thirsty customers:

As nightfall arrives the guards head out to resume their duties and other guests head upstairs where bedchambers are available for rent:

Also upstairs are the Innkeepers personal quarters where she, her daughter, and two dogs live:

Less well-off guests can pay for a bed in the attic, but this sometimes results in disagreements among roommates:

Above the Innkeepers quarters lies a secret chamber and it seems the Innkeeper is more than just an Innkeeper. Perhaps she uses magic to fill a bathtub so high up?

Additional Details

The build is approximately one and a half 32x32 baseplates in size.
The build is split across four floors: an underground cellar for storage, a main floor with a kitchen and dining halls, an upstairs with three guest rooms and the Innkeepers quarters, and an attic with a common guestroom and the Innkeeper's secret magic workshop.
A wide variety of minifigures could be used for this build but for the purpose of submitting I've come up with nine: the Innkeeper, the Innkeeper's Daughter, the Captain, two sailors, two town guards, a peasant, and a traveling adventurer.

Hope you like the model and thank you for checking it out and supporting!
