What is it?
This is a Soccer ball / Fullerene. This is made by combining 20
hexagons of different colors. (Blue, Yellow, Orange, Red, Green) This shape is also
known as “Fullerene.”
If you are interested, please check it on the website.
Why did I build it?
I came up with this idea when I was playing with my son. I thought this would be a fun way to
introduce him geometric shapes and how they are formed/constructed.
Why do I believe this would make a great LEGO
set?
The concept is very simple yet challenging enough to engage
everyone. It can attract both grown-ups and children. For grown-ups, this set can be built and displayed
in the office, soccer stadiums, and sports bars as a promotional item. For children, this could be a great new STEM
toy/educational tool to teach kids about geometric shapes. What’s more to it is
that children can learn to concentrate (as it requires good fine motor skills
to build it) and give them some cognitive challenges (they have to think of color
combination as well for not placing same color of hexagons side by side.)
Key words would be “angle” and “color coordination” to make it
precisely. I bet everyone can feel a
sense of accomplishment in the end!
