HUGE Update!! Curved Track and Curving Monorail, Less Pieces, and BUILD-ABLE!!
IT'S POSSIBLE!!! Yes, the Disneyland Mark VII Monorail has the potential to manually run on a curved track, just like the real thing!
First off, we want to give our sincerest thanks to brickthus who is a fellow Lego Ideas contributor who brought this idea to our attention and uses it on his own Monorail project (check it out and support it here: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/6c9e0f37-b196-4be6-ab3f-42edd52b7cc3 ).
Alright, here’s the details:
- We went through and slimmed down the total Monorail brick count by over 400 pieces by making it more efficient and better supported!
- Next, we added the function on ALL the wheels so they could turn on a curved track (see picture).
3. We created a track that could turn gradually enough to support the Monorail’s long body (see picture).
4. Most importantly to us was throughout the entire process we made sure to keep the integrity of the Disneyland Monorail Mark VII intact. Yes the very one that YOU GUYS have shot up to over 250 supporters (Thank you!!!). Though it presented us with many challenges in making it more efficient and able to run on a track, we are proud of what came out of this update.
Oh, and I almost forgot. This entire set (besides the all blue front aero plane nose/windshield) is now made up of real Lego pieces that can be purchased in the colors shown and can be put together into the Disneyland Monorail Mark VII!
Thank you and here's to 1,000 supporters!
P.S. If we reach 1,000 supporters we will personally buy all of the pieces reqiured to make the Monorail itself and build it to better enhance the set.
Making it more Disney! (Half-way to 100 Supporters update)
After some thinking into what makes this Monorail, the Disneyland monorail we realized two things we had to add.
If you have ever gone to Disneyland California you would know the iconic Tomorrowland Rock sculpture at the entrance. And when entering the Monorail loading area is the monorail sign welcoming you to the future. We decided to recreate these, with awesome GOLD PIECES! To see and expereince these signs and sulcuptures is what makes Disneyland so great! Enjoy!
Thank you for your support so far, here's to 100!!
